In vintage clothing markets, we can occasionally encounter experimental Air Force flight jackets that, for various reasons, were never produced or distributed. Based on extensive historical research, we can be confident that this situation is common across the different military services.

These pants were defined as protective pants for a gunner or boilermaker in the Navy, and it is reasonable to assume that they would also be used as engineer pants in the engine compartment. This is based on a reasonably imagined version of a product that existed in history and is likely to be a real sample that existed during the product iteration experiment.
